What attracted you to your chosen work?
Before I joined Avery Dennison, I worked in smaller companies for a few years. This experience made me realize the need for a change – to a company that offers possibilities to develop and where ethics and values truly matter. Since my university studies in Asian culture, I have always wanted to work in an international environment, meeting people of different cultures, attitudes and backgrounds. I also wanted to develop professionally, gain new experiences and learn new things, all of which Avery Dennison could offer.
What skills did you develop early that are still useful today?
I can say that one of the most valuable soft skills I brought from my time in university and post-graduate studies was openness, tolerance and respect for differences – whether in people's character, behavior, way of thinking or cultural background. This skill allows me to make strong relationships with a variety of people and to understand not only what they say, but also what they feel. When you add a smile and a sense of humor, it can help foster friendly relationships, making both business interactions and daily life much simpler.
How have you grown in your career at Avery Dennison?
Over the past 20 years at Avery Dennison, I have held various roles, responsibilities and functions, but they have always been connected to sales, either directly or in a supporting capacity. I began in 2004 in Paxar, which was later acquired by Avery Dennison and became part of the now Solutions Group business. During that time, I learned about products, printing and production technologies, and the apparel industry in general. It was an exciting period working with passionate people, big brands and global teams.
I witnessed significant changes in the industry in Europe and within the Avery Dennison Polan site. As a result, in 2016, I transitioned to a sales role in the Graphics Solution team, managing Polish distributors of Comprint and Graphics products. This brought an entirely new business focus–materials, customers, projects and activities–requiring me to continue learning, adapting and finding new ways to succeed.
