Supporting Our Employees

"Our work is only beginning."

In my last note, I spoke about how diversity and inclusion are more than just values at Avery Dennison. We have a mission to create and foster an environment where everyone feels safe to be their authentic selves.

One of the unique ways we support our employees is through our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). Established over the past few years, these groups, along with our North America Diversity & Inclusion Council, are critical as we strive to help every employee enjoy the benefits of an inclusive work environment. The mission of our ERGs is to help advance our diversity and inclusion efforts and create greater opportunities for employee connection. An ERG is a group of employees who join together to provide support and personal connection for its members in a manner that promotes diversity, cultural awareness and an inclusive work environment. Any employee can join an ERG, and no one may be excluded. We currently offer five ERGs: Elevate (women’s leadership development group), Black Employee Resource Group, Unite (LGBT+ and ally community), NEO Chinese Association and The Veterans Employee Resource Group.

You can find more information about each of our groups here.

We also recently signed The Cleveland Pledge as one way to help our actions speak louder than our words. The pledge, developed by the Greater Cleveland Partnership, declares racism a public health crisis. We stand united with over 100 other Cleveland businesses in a commitment to work towards tangible actions to undo systemic racism.

Our work is only beginning. I will continue to return to this space next week to keep you posted on other actions we are taking to listen and to change.
